Setting and Achieving Goals

Defining goals in business

Once we enter the work force we find ourselves doing the same thing day after day. While this can become mundane and boring, we should strive to finding a purpose and develop goals to help us get motivated and achieve things during the day.

It seems hard to imagine that we do the same general thing day after day, but we are paid to do just that. We might as well make the best out of it. If we are going to be at work we might at well have some goals in business and try to achieve them if at all possible. It is always a good thing to work hard, no matter how much you hate your job.

For some just waking up and getting to work on time is a goal in itself. This is not a very high goal, but it is at least a start. Others want to be the best and have everything their way. Often this goal is too high and not very achievable. There has to be a balance between setting the bar too low and setting the bar so high that no one will ever reach the goal.

I feel the best goal is one that strives you to work just a bit harder than the day before. This challenges the mind to do things you did not think could be done. It is also attainable and not so tough that it will stress you out. Either by increasing your production or increasing your effectiveness are two areas where you can set your goals in business. These do not have to be huge improvements, but strive to do something positive. You never know when someone important will notice your hard work and grant you a promotion.

In conclusion, be careful how you set your goals. Trying to do too much and be the best in everything is just as bad as doing the bare minimum. Goals in business should be reachable with a strong effort. Often times all that is needed to reach your goals is a little bit of hard work with a positive attitude.
